Mark Allen will lock horns with Ding Junhui in the final of the UK Snooker Championship 2022 on November 20, 2022, after his stunning comeback victory against Jack Lisowski in a late-night showdown. Allen came from behind to overcome Lisowski 6-5 in Saturday’s late semifinal. Allen, who lost four stone during the summer, is on a roll and looking for his second victory of the season after successfully defending his Northern Ireland Open crown in October. He had previously reached the final of the British Open 2022, where he emerged as the runner-up Welsh’s Ryan Day defeated him.
Lisowski had four centuries in a row to defeat Shaun Murphy in the previous round, and two half-century runs enabled him to establish a 2-0 lead. Allen won the third frame before a break of 63 tied the match going into the mid-session break. Following the restart after swapping frames, Lisowski scored when Allen missed a long pot chance of a red along the top cushion to go 4-3 up and then finished out the next frame to get within the range of victory. Allen came back strongly with a 115 clearance in the ninth frame and a 74 in the following to force a decider. Both players blew chances to win the match, with Allen losing position after a 36-point break before Lisowski made 57. Lisowski then missed the green which cost him as Allen cleaned up to complete another incredible recovery.
Ding Junhui beat Tom Ford in a late comeback to win 6-3 in the first semi-final. The Chinese initially dominated in the semis with a 5-0 lead, just like his quarter final match against Ronnie O’Sullivan. However, Ford came back strongly and didn’t let Ding produce another whitewash by winning three straight frames to make it 5-3.
