Ace India squash star Joshna Chinappa will take on Hollie Naughton of Canada in the women’s singles quarter-finals at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Monday. Chinappa entered the quarter-finals after outclassing New Zealand’s Kaitlyn Watts 3-1 after a calm display of nerves to recover from a mid-game slump.
The 18-time national champion will be vying for her first singles medal at the Commonwealth Games. She clinched a gold medal in doubles at 2014 Glasgow and a silver in the same category at the 2018 Gold Coast Games. She also emerged as the World Champion in the doubles category earlier this year.

Earlier on Sunday, the Indian ace was trailing 3-5 to her Canadian counterpart in the opening set before making it 8-8 to take a 1-0 lead. However, Watts kept on challenging the Indian in the second set, but Chinappa kept her nerves to prevail over the top.
The women’s singles quarter-finals between Joshna Chinappa and Hollie Naughton will take place at the University Show Court on Monday at 06:00pm IST.
