The youngest member of the Indian Contingent Anahat Singh made a stunning entry to the international circuit with an 11-5, 11-2, and 11-0 win against Jada Ross of Saint Vincente and the Grenadines in the women’s singles Squash Round of 64. The 14-year-young Anahat showed her ability right from the beginning. Although in the first game, Ross tried to give a fight, the youngster completely overshadowed her in the next two games as she didn’t allow her to get even a single point in the third game. Anahat will play against World number. 19 Emily Whitlock of Wales in her Round of 32 match.

Coach Chris Walker was full of praise for Anahat and stated that the youngster had a bright future. The World Championships and Commonwealth Games Bronze medallist added, “She has great problem-solving skills. She is very smart, has good court sense, and great racket work. At 14, you just want to help that talent grow. The short period of time I’ve been working with her has just been tremendous fun.”

Anahat’s Achievements:

Teen star Anahat made it to the Indian Squad for Birmingham based on her performances at the national selection trials and the under-15 level, which comprises victories at the Asian Junior Squash Championship and German Junior Open Squash 2022. The Birmingham Games 2022 is Anahat’s first international senior tournament. At a young age, she has registered around 50 title wins at the junior level and won the US Junior Open, the British, Dutch, and German Junior Opens.

Hailing from Delhi, India, Anahat is presently a class nine student at the British School, New Delhi. She initially started with Badminton but switched to Squash at the age of eight. Since then, she has been participating in many international-level competitions and has brought laurels to the country at a tender age. Anahat is also a former Asia no.1 in the Under-11 category and continued her position for two years before she was included in the Under-13 category.
