The IWF Asian Weightlifting Championships 2022 is slated to be held from October 8 to October 16, 2022 in Manama, Bahrain. The 2022 edition will witness the return of many brightest stars from the Eastern countries which implies a fierce competition among the weightlifters. Asian competitors hold almost 80 percent of all the current world records in men’s category, while every single senior-level record in the sport is presently held by Asian women. With the IWF World Championships 2022 in December serving as the first major qualification event for the Paris Olympics, this championship will act as a great preparatory stage for the athletes.

The likes of Mirabai Chanu, Jeremy Lalrinnunga, and Achinta Sheuli will not be a part of the championships as they will be preparing for the upcoming Worlds. As a result of which, the Indian contingent will be led by two-time Asian champion Jhilli Dalabehera from Odisha.
Harshada Garud (women’s 45kg), Gyaneshwari Yadav (women’s 49kg), Shrabani Das (women’s 55kg), and Madhavan Thirumurugan (men’s 61kg) will be a few of the promising athletes to watch out for.
