The Vegas Golden Knights will welcome the Vancouver Canucks to the T-Mobile Arena for an NHL game on Saturday. The Knights lost 2-4 against the Krakens in their last game. Nic Roy and Phil Kessel scored for Vegas, while Adin Hill stopped 24 shots. The Kraken dominated early, outshooting the Golden Knights 8-2 and opening a two-goal lead in the first period.
“They were quicker than us, they won a lot more races, one-on-one battles, they executed better than us — they were just the better team,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “Let’s call it what it is, from start to finish they outplayed us. We can look at different areas and why and what, but we weren’t ready to play, that always falls on the coach. I gotta get the guys ready to play.”
The Cancucks on the other hand won 3-4 against the Avalanche in their last game. Ethan Bear snapped a tie with 8 minutes to go. Trailing by a goal entering the third, Sheldon Dries tied it for Vancouver before Bear ripped a shot past Pavel Francouz on a 4-on-4 moments after Colorado’s Cale Makar was called for interference.Bo Horvat scored his 16th goal for the Canucks in the opener of a three-game trip.
The stirring victory came two nights after the Canucks blew a two-goal lead in the third period in a loss to Vegas.“A lot of times we hold the sticks too tight when we do get the lead,” Vancouver coach Bruce Boudreau said. “We need a couple of these.”
