The Florida Panthers will welcome the Montreal Canadiens to FLA Live Arena for an NHL game on Thursday. The Florida Panthers lost 4-5 in their last game over the Jets. Matthew Tkachuk scored twice for Florida. Sam Reinhart and Marc Staal also connected and Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves. The Panthers rallied in the third to force overtime, with Staal driving in and firing one off Hellebuyck’s glove 33 seconds in to make it 4-3.
On another power play chance, Tkachuk tied it with his second of the game at 6:24 when he scored on a backhander from the slot. “The ice was pretty tilted in the third. If you would have told us we would get a point out of it, we would have taken that going into the third,’’ Tkachuk said. “The way we were able to push and dominate the second half of that game, that’s something we need to continue to build on.’’
The Montreal Canadiens on the other hand won 4-6 against the Penguins in their last game. The Montreal Canadiens ended a seven-game skid with a 6-4 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday.
Anthony Richard broke a tie in the third period, Denis Gurianov scored in his third straight game, and Sam Montembeault made 39 saves for the Canadiens (27-35-6), who were 0-5-2 during the slide, including an 8-4 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Monday.
“We had a tough first [period] yesterday, but after that, I felt like we didn’t hide,” Montreal coach Martin St. Louis said. “It’s not like we had a lot of time to think about last night’s game. We just had to try to get better as the game went on last night and try to carry that into tonight.
