The game between the Dallas Stars and Calgary Flames will take place at American Airlines Center on Monday, March 6 at 8:30 PM ET.
The Dallas Stars will welcome the Calgary Flames to American Airlines Center for an NHL game on Monday. The Dallas Stars won 7-3 in their last game over the Avalanche. Mason Marchment and Joe Pavelski ended career-long goal droughts as the Dallas Stars beat the Colorado Avalanche 7-3 on Saturday.
Jason Robertson had two goals, including a late empty-netter, while Miro Heiskanen, Radek Faksa and Wyatt Johnston also scored for the Stars, who lead the Central Division and are 4-0-1 in their last five games. Jake Oettinger made 32 saves. Samuel Girard had a goal and two assists and Andrew Cogliano and Evan Rodrigues also scored for the Avalanche, who have allowed seven goals each in two straight regulation losses following a 7-0-1 run.
Alexandar Georgiev was pulled midway through the second period after allowing five goals on 19 shots. Keith Kinkaid, acquired from the Boston Bruins on Feb. 25, replaced Georgiev to make his first NHL appearance since Nov. 12. Kinkaid added eight saves. Marchment went 32 games without a goal since tallying an empty-netter on Dec. 13, 37 games without shooting a puck past a goaltender. He settled a pass from Ryan Suter in the slot and scored on a wrist shot giving the Stars a 4-1 lead at 5:25 of the second period.
The Calgary Flames on the other hand lost 0-3 against the Wild in their last game. Filip Gustavsson made 31 saves, and the Minnesota Wild extended their point streak to nine games with a 3-0 win against the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday. It was Gustavsson’s second shutout of the season and in his NHL career. “He’s been awesome,” Minnesota forward Matt Boldy said. “Nothing but good things to say. He’s been standing on top of his head and making saves when he has to, saves he should make and saves he shouldn’t make. He’s making it easy for us.”
Boldy and Joel Eriksson Ek each had a goal and an assist, and Marcus Foligno scored for the Wild (36-21-6), who have won four straight and are 8-0-1 during their point streak. Minnesota is three points behind the Dallas Stars for first place in the Central Division.
“It’s important,” Eriksson Ek said. “It’s a really important time of year. For us, these games are real big. It’s a tight race and we know that. Hopefully we can keep building on this.” Jacob Markstrom made 30 saves for the Flames (27-23-13), who have lost five in a row and are six points behind the Colorado Avalanche for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference.
