The Buffalo Sabres will welcome the Dallas Stars to KeyBank Center for an NHL game on Thursday. The Buffalo Sabres lost 3-2 in their last game over the Islanders. Okposo erased the Islanders’ advantage about three minutes later. The Sabres captain fired a well-placed wrist shot from just inside the blue line past the glove of Sorokin.
The Islanders improved to 27-6-3 this season when they have scored at least three goals, including shootout winners. Bailey gave the Islanders a 2-1 edge when he put home a rebound at 1:51 of the third. Alexander Romanov’s shot deflected off Cizikas and Bailey was able to backhand the loose puck for his eighth of the season. “You have to have your best 20 in the third and we have found a way to do that,” Islanders forward Anders Lee said. “It’s part of our style, we start to wear teams down.”
The Dallas Stars on the other hand lost 4-5 against the Flames in their last game. Jason Robertson scored his 38th goal for Dallas, and Roope Hintz got his 30th on a short-hander. Max Domi got his first goal for the Stars since getting traded from the Blackhawks right after Dallas had played in Chicago last Thursday night, tying the game at 2-2 in the second period.
“Tonight definitely stung,” Stars center Tyler Seguin said. “They’re a good hockey team, they played well. And, you know, they always play well against us, and had our number as of late.” The Flames won 6-5 in Dallas on Jan. 14, their first meeting since Calgary’s overtime goal in Game 7 to beat the Stars in the first round of last season’s Western Conference playoffs.
