Arthur Kaliyev tied the game midway through the game, but Mark Stone had different ideas as his shot went in during the final 30 seconds of play and helped Vegas register a 4-3 win.
Mark Stone came up with a last minute goal with only 24 seconds to play as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 in the NHL on Tuesday night. William Karlsson scored one goal and had an assist while Jack Eichel and Jonathan Marchessault scored for Vegas as they scraped past the Kings on opening night and in the process gave Bruce Cassidy his first win as head coach.
Gabriel Vilardi opened the scoring for the Kings midway through the first period after an impressive exchange with Quinton Byfield. Jonathan Marchessault equalized for Vegas early in the second after a Kings line change. Jack Eichel Eichel put the Vegas Golden Knights ahead early in the third period with a rebound goal only for Adrian Kempe to even the odds seconds later.
William Karlsson then deflected a stray shot to put the Golden Knights in the driving seat. Arthur Kaliyev tied the game midway through the game, but Mark Stone had different ideas as his shot went in during the final 30 seconds of play and helped Vegas register a 4-3 win.
After game, Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy spoke to the reporters and said, “Happy for the guys. I thought we showed a lot of resilience. We kept pushing back whenever something didn’t go our way.”
Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick was unfortunate to be on the losing side as he had a spectacular game. Quick was faced with 51 shots and saved 47 of them. He ended the game with a save percentage of .921 on opening night for the 14th time in the Kings’ last 15 seasons.
All in all, it was quite a game to close out the opening night of the new NHL season and in this article, we will showcase some of the best fan reactions.

This is the Mark Stone I’ve always loved. The way his stick seems to be everywhere between opposing passes is such a subtle unique characteristic that consistently changes the opposing team’s flow.

I thought God had forsaken me. Then the Mark Stone scored that goal to cover the spread 🙏

MARK EFFING STONE
The Kings tried to kill the game off by standing behind the goal for a minute, got bored, opted for a long range pass that was easily intercepted and the Mark Stone buries one and goes absolutely wild.
The Golden Knights earned this win and they will get it.

Overall, I’d say that was a good strong start to the season for the VGK, with a gritty win against one of the stronger teams in the division.
They’ll tighten things up as they go, but I’m liking what I’m seeing so far.
Thoughts on the season opener? 👍👎🤷♂️#VegasBorn #NHL

Golden Knights win their season opener and Dodgers win their playoff opener. Gotta say it was a good day.
