The Florida Panthers will welcome the Dallas Stars to the FLA Live Arena for an NHL game on Thursday. The Panther picked up a fine 5-2 victory over Washington Capitals on Wednesday. Carter Verhaeghe scored twice in the final minutes, he scored on a loose puck to give the Panthers a two-goal lead with 3 minutes remaining before scoring into an empty net with 1:24 left.
Florida also got goals from Aleksander Barkov, Sam Reinhart and Nick Cousins, while Sergei Bobrovsky made 41 saves for his first win since Nov. 3.“They keep telling me I am a shooter, so I just try to shoot the puck and I have two great guys next to me,” said Verhaeghe, who leads Florida with 10 goals. “The line has been good and the puck is going in.”
The Dallas Stars put up a good fight but fell to a tight 5-4 loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday. Joe Pavelski and Jason Robertson had a goal and an assist, and Mason Marchment also scored for the Stars. Oettinger stopped 33 shots. Stamkos stopped a 10-game goal drought at 14:32 of the second that tied it at 3. He is one goal away from trying Norm Ullman (490) for 49th place all-time.
“They’re not all going to look great and be perfect games, but found a way to get a point against a real good team,” Stars coach Pete DeBoer said. “The game went back and forth three or four times, so it was a good point.”
