The Florida Panthers will welcome the Columbus Blue Jackets to FLA Live Arena for an NHL game on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 2-5 against the Kraken in their last game. Eric Staal and Chris Tierney scored for the Panthers, who have lost two straight and three of four. Sergei Bobrovsky had 27 saves while starting for the second straight night with Spencer Knight out due to illness.
“There were an awful lot of difficulty in some basic things in our game,’’ Florida coach Paul Maurice said. “We had trouble moving the puck. There are physical turnovers and mental ones and we had a little bit of both. … As the game wore on, you saw the mental aspect. We started a little bit off then they pushed and I don’t think we found a way to get better during the game.”
The Blue Jackets on the other hand won 6-5 against the Kings in their last game. Jack Roslovic had two goals and two assists, Patrik Laine had a goal and two assists, and Boone Jenner and rookie Kirill Marchenko also scored for the Blue Jackets. Gaudreau and Vladislav Gavrikov each had two assists and Elvis Merzlikins stopped 33 shots. Anze Kopitar scored twice, and Blake Lizotte, Jaret Anderson-Dolan and Adrian Kemp also had goals for the Kings, who earned a point after rallying from two two-goal deficits.
Jonathan Quick finished with 20 saves. In the extra period, Gaudreau rushed in and tipped the rebound of Laine’s shot. The goal stood after a lengthy video review that revealed the Kings’ Kevin Fiala directed the puck into his own net. “We can take them in overtime, as long as we get our points,” Roslovic said. “It’s great to see results for the work that we put in this year.”
