Mason Marchment scored two goals while Joel Kiviranta and Ryan Shea scored one goal each as Dallas won the game by a single goal. Two goal hero Mason Marchment said after the game, “It was great to be out there with a new team. I’m happy that we came out with the win.”
On the other hand, the Minnesota Wild come into this match after downing defending champions Colorado Avalanche 5-2 in their last preseason game. A brace from Tyson Jost and a goal each from Nic Petan, Brandon Duhaime and Vladislav Firstov overwhelmed the Avalanche. Minnesota head coach Dean Evason said after the game, “I liked a lot of things of a lot of individual players, but mostly we liked our team game.”
