The Columbus Blue Jackets will welcome the Detroit Red Wings to the Nationwide Arena for an NHL game on Saturday. The Jackets picked up a 6-4 victory over the Canadiens on Thursday. Sean Kuraly scored twice in the third period and the Columbus Blue Jackets won their third straight home game.
Boone Jenner and Mathieu Olivier also scored in the third, and Kuraly added an assist. Cole Sillinger and Gus Nyquist added goals for Columbus, which has picked up seven points in its last four games. “This wasn’t pretty tonight at all,” Blue Jackets coach Brad Larsen said. “But you have to win ugly in this league at times. I thought Korpi was outstanding.”
The Red Wings put up a good fight to win 7-4 against the Sharks on Wednesday. Karlsson rallied San Jose back from a 4-2 deficit in the third period with his third assist and then the tying goal in a span of less than three minutes. But then Seider answered 2:23 later when he took a pass from David Perron and beat James Reimer for his first goal of the season.
Pius Suter added an insurance goal and Dominik Kubalik scored an empty-netter to help the Red Wings snap a four-game losing streak. “It was just a big goal for us at the time and obviously for him, too,” coach Derek Lalonde said. “It was a huge gut punch giving up that two-goal lead. But our guys hung in there and made a play and we found ourselves up.”
