The Colorado Avalanche will welcome the Philadelphia Flyers to Ball Arena for an NHL game on Tuesday. The Avalanche won 2-3 against the Blues in their last game. Mikko Rantanen scored in the final seconds of regulation and the first minute of overtime to complete his fifth career hat trick and give the Colorado Avalanche a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday.
Rantanen’s second goal of the game came with nine seconds left in regulation, forcing the extra period. He sealed the comeback win 29 seconds into overtime. Pavel Francouz made 30 saves and the Avalanche snapped a five-game winless streak. “I liked our competitiveness all night,” Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said. “It wasn’t the perfect game from us by any stretch, but I did like the way we competed, the way we stuck with it. I think everyone was emotionally invested in the game.”
The Flyers on the other hand lost 5-4 against the Islanders in their last game. Morgan Frost had a goal and three assists, James van Riemsdyk had a goal and two assists, and Owen Tippet also scored for the Flyers, who have lost five of six and are 2-10-5 since their 7-3-2 start to the season.
Van Riemsdyk played his third game since missing the previous 20 with an upper body injury. Hart made 22 saves for the Flyers in his seventh straight start. “Give a lot of credit to the Flyers,” Tourigny said. “They worked hard. They battled. They were physical. They have the same kind of identity that we take a lot of pride in.”
