The Carolina Hurricanes will welcome the Seattle Kraken to PNC Arena for an NHL game on Thursday. The Hurricanes won 0-1 against the Red Wings in their last game. Brady Skjei scored the only goal and Pyotr Kochetkov made 27 saves in the Carolina Hurricanes’ 1-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings 1-0 Tuesday night in the 100th career meeting between the teams.
“Honestly, the biggest factor has been our goaltending,” said Skjei, whose power-play goal at 17:20 of the first period extended his point streak to four games and was his first power-play goal in 476 career games. “Kochy was the reason we won tonight. That was a huge performance. We’ve had a lot of guys stepping up at different times to help us get these points.”
The Kraken on the other hand lost 6-2 against the Lightning in their last game. Jared McCann and Ryan Donato scored for the Kraken, who dropped to 9-3-1 on the road. Two of those losses have come in the last three games. Seattle’s Philipp Grubauer allowed four goals on 20 shots before being pulled in the second.
“When that third goal went in, it took a lot out of us,” Seattle coach Dave Hakstol said. “We started a little bit slow. They were on top of us the first 10 minutes. After the second goal went in, it took us a couple minutes to recover but for the next 30 minutes we were a good hockey team.”
