The Washington Wizards will welcome the New Orleans Pelicans to Capital One Arena for an NBA game on Monday. The Wizards lost 127-110 in their last game over the Thunder. Kyle Kuzma scored 23 points, Daniel Gafford had 15 points and nine rebounds and Kristaps Porzingis added 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Wizards, who were playing without their top scorer, Bradley Beal. Beal was diagnosed Thursday with a low-grade left hamstring strain and won’t be re-evaluated for at least a week.

“In general, that first quarter, moreso first half, I don’t think we had the right mindset,” Washington coach Wes Unseld Jr. said. “We looked a little sluggish. You could argue (it was) a long trip, this, that and the other, but no excuse. We’ve got to do better to start with energy and our approach. They kind of outplayed us in a lot of areas in the first half.”

The Pelicans on the other hand lost 127-117 against the Mavericks in their last game. The Pelicans — who have lost four of five — missed all nine 3-point attempts in the first quarter, when New Orleans made just 6 of 26 field goal attempts.

Hardy matched his career high with 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting. Hardy has scored 15 points in consecutive games, shooting 70.6% from the field. “Hardy’s improved in every area,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. “He’s worked extremely hard. He’s learning what it means to be a pro. You can see the product on the floor in the sense that he’s not scared. He’s a young man surrounded by a megastar, and he feels like he fits right in. That’s kind of cool.”
