When Minnesota visits San Antonio on Sunday night, it will look to extend its two-game winning run. As the clubs split the first two games, the Timberwolves are playing the Spurs for the third time in six days. Prior to Minnesota’s 134-122 victory on Wednesday, San Antonio had won by a score of 115-106 on Monday.
The worst showing for Minnesota in 2022 thus far has been their defeat to San Antonio in the first of two games earlier this week. The Timberwolves have won their other four games, with their lone other setback coming last Friday against Utah. On Friday, they defeated the Lakers with the help of a strong fourth quarter, keeping Los Angeles winless so far this year.
Given that it entered the year with the NBA’s youngest team and wasn’t anticipated to win many games, San Antonio has been one of the greatest shocks in the league thus far. In their season opener against Charlotte, the Spurs had a good performance but were easily defeated 129-102. But since then, they have won four of their five games, including victories on the road in Indiana, Philadelphia, and Minnesota.
