Portland Trail Blazers will take on Houston Rockets on October 28 at Moda Center at the Rose Quarter. The Houston Rockets may be the best foe the Trail Blazers will have to deal with without Damian Lillard. Lillard will be reevaluated in one to two weeks, according to the Trail Blazers’ announcement on Thursday that he has been diagnosed with a grade one calf sprain. He might come back as soon as Wednesday’s game against Memphis (4-1). The Blazers will never be happy to play without Lillard (4-1). Although the Rockets are 1-4, they should be able to defeat a Rockets club that is off to one of the worst starts in the NBA.
Bet on Anfernee Simons to replace Lillard as the starting point guard. With Justise Winslow or Nassir Little set to start at small forward instead of Josh Hart, the position will likely go to shooting guard. Or perhaps Shaedon Sharpe, a rookie, gets the start at shooting guard for coach Chauncey Billups. Even if he continues to play off the bench, Sharpe, who has averaged 16 minutes per game, should see a huge increase in minutes against the Rockets. The Blazers should be able to enter the weekend at 5-1 as long as they don’t lose on Friday.

Houston is 20th in three-point percentage (34.6%) and 29th in field goal percentage (41.9%). They rank 23rd in terms of poor ball distribution (28th in assists, 19.8 per game). All things considered, the Rockets have some exciting young talent. Guard Jalen Green is averaging 22.6 points per game and shooting 41.7% from three-point range as the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Guard Kevin Porter Jr. averages 21.4 points per game, and a third-round selection in the 2022 draught Jabari Smith, a rookie forward, contributes 14.2 points and 7.4 rebounds.
