The Phoenix Suns advanced after defeating the Los Angeles Clippers 130-103 in Game 6 of the Western Conference first round. Despite the absence of star point guard Chris Paul, who was sidelined due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols, the Suns relied on their young superstar shooting guard Devin Booker to lead them to victory.

Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker Shines

Booker put on an outstanding performance, scoring 47 points on 15-of-22 shooting from the field, including 8-of-10 from three-point range. He started off strong in the first quarter, scoring 18 points on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting from the field. The Clippers were unable to contain him throughout the game, as he hit two more three-pointers in the fourth quarter, tying an NBA playoff record for most three-pointers in a game.

The Suns’ victory in Game 6 was a total team effort, with six players scoring in double figures. Along with Booker’s standout performance, center Deandre Ayton had a monster game, scoring 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field, while also grabbing nine rebounds. Mikal Bridges scored 13 points, while Cameron Payne, Jae Crowder, and Torrey Craig each scored 10 points.

Phoenix Suns’ Outstanding Defense

In addition to their exceptional offensive performance, the Suns’ defense was also outstanding. They held the Clippers to just 41 percent shooting from the field, limiting their ability to mount a comeback. The Suns outscored the Clippers 34-21 in the third quarter to take a commanding lead of 93-75 into the fourth quarter.

Despite losing Paul for much of the series, the Suns were able to overcome the adversity and advance to the NBA semi-finals. Their success in the playoffs is a testament to their depth and talent, which was on full display in their victory against the Clippers.
