Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings will welcome the Golden State Warriors to the Golden 1 Center for an NBA game on Saturday. The Sacramento Kings lost 109-95 in their last game over the Nuggets. Sacramento made six of its first seven 3-pointers to jump out to a 24-10 lead and had a 43-26 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Nuggets recovered, though, with a pair of DeAndre Jordan free throws with three minutes remaining in the third quarter giving them their first lead of the day.

Their lead grew to as many as 18 in the fourth quarter. “The plan was to play me in the first half and sit the second half,” Brown said. “I was like ‘Why?’ Let’s go win this thing.” The Kings, who came into the game as the NBA’s highest-scoring team, shot just 35% in the final three quarters. Despite sitting for the final 24 minutes, Barnes finished with a team-high 17 points.

“You don’t know until you go through it with the group, but they put themselves in a pretty good position,” Kings coach Mike Brown said. “So now let’s see if we can continue our momentum going into the playoffs by stepping it up a notch higher than what we did during the regular season.”

Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors on the other hand won 101-157 against the Trailblazers in their last game. The Golden State Warriors set an NBA record by scoring 55 points in the first quarter on their way to a 157-101 rout of the Portland Trail Blazers in their regular-season finale on Sunday to secure the sixth seed in the Western Conference. “We’ve played really well the last couple of weeks,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. “I think we’ve won eight of 10.

Today guys were locked in right from the beginning. Guys knew what was at stake and controlled the game from the opening tap so hopefully that carries over to next week.” Klay Thompson, who scored 20 points, became the third player in NBA history to hit at least 300 3-pointers in a single season. “I pulled Klay aside two minutes before the game and said, ‘Just let it happen,’” Kerr said. “He said ’no problem Coach” and then he made five 3s in the first five minutes. That’s Klay.”

Teammate Stephen Curry, who did it four times, and James Harden are the other two players. Thompson also had the most 3-pointers by a player this season, getting to 301 by making six in Sunday’s finale. “It’s cool to lead the league in 3s made,” Thompson said. “It’s something I’ve never done before. And It’s a testament to my hard work over the last few years, some dark times that have turned into some beautiful moments.”
