The Miami Heat will welcome the New York Knicks to Miami-Dade Arena for an NBA game on Wednesday. The Miami Heat won 100-112 in their last game over the Pistons. Tyler Herro scored 10 of his 19 points in the final 3:20 and the Miami Heat rallied for a 112-100 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night. Miami improved to 39-34, one game behind the Brooklyn Nets for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Heat host the Nets on Saturday. “This is going to be our March Madness and April Madness,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “The opportunity is right in front of us, and that’s all you can ask for at this part of the season. We are going to have to fight for it — that’s what this is all about.” Herro’s 3-pointer gave the Heat a 101-98 lead with 3:20 left. After he and Jimmy Butler hit jumpers, Herro made another 3-pointer to put Miami up 108-98.
“Tyler lives for those moments,” Spoelstra said. “He has the clutch gene — he really does — and we know he will knock down some really tough shots when we need them.” Butler had 26 points and 10 assists and Bam Adebayo added 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Heat, who won for the third time in four games. Miami lost 113-99 in Chicago on Saturday.
The New York Knicks on the other hand lost 134-140 against the Timberwolves in their last game. Former Knicks coach Rick Pitino will be back on the sidelines at Madison Square Garden for some St. John’s games after being hired by the Red Storm on Monday. The school announced he’d be introduced during a news conference Tuesday at the arena.
“When I was a young coach, I used to watch his practices at Providence,” Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau said. “So he’s good man, great coach and I know he’ll do a great job with St. John’s.” Swingman Josh Hart arrived for the game wearing the No. 32 jersey of his great uncle, Yankees great Elston Howard.
