Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers will welcome the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Kaseya Center for an NBA game on Tuesday. The Los Angeles Lakers won 128-117 in their last game over the Jazz. LeBron James hit eight 3-pointers while scoring 36 points, Anthony Davis had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Los Angeles Lakers. “We’re just looking forward to the opportunity,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said. “Starting where we started at earlier in the year, and now sitting where we find ourselves sitting, we’re excited. Guys are ready to go. We’ve got great synergy in our locker room. Need to clean up some stuff defensively, but outside of that, we’re ready to go.”

About 30 minutes after the streamers fell from the rafters on the Lakers’ regular-season finale, Los Angeles (43-39) learned it will host Minnesota (42-40) in a play-in game on Tuesday night “It’s different, because usually in the postseason, we have multiple days to prep for a team,” James said before the first play-in game of his 20-year NBA career. “We literally have one day to prep. … For us, it’s good that we don’t have to travel. It’s good that we get to stay here, but we shouldn’t be comfortable.

We need to stay on edge and get ready for the game.” D’Angelo Russell had 17 points for the Lakers, who won nine of their last 11 games and went 18-9 after revamping their roster at the trade deadline. Los Angeles was six games under .500 as recently as Feb. 13 before finding its groove with the new players led by Russell, defense-minded starter Jarred Vanderbilt and outside shooter Malik Beasley.

Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves on the other hand won 113-108 against the Pelicans in their last game. Anthony Edwards had 26 points, 13 rebounds, four steals and four blocks to lead Minnesota past New Orleans 113-108 on Sunday, passing the Pelicans in the play-in tournament seeding after losing a pair of starters during the game to anger management problems.

Rudy Gobert threw a punch at teammate Kyle Anderson late in the second quarter and was sent home for the day, after ace defender Jaden McDaniels hurt his right hand by hitting a wall in frustration. But Karl-Anthony Towns had 12 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter, Taurean Prince pitched in 18 points off the bench, and the Timberwolves rallied from a 14-point deficit.

“We’re going to have more adversity to deal with,” Towns said. “Always got to earn it.” Gobert tweeted Sunday night: “Emotions got the best of me today. I should not have reacted the way i did regardless of what was said. I wanna apologize to the fans, the organization and particularly to Kyle, who is someone that I truly love and respect as a teammate.”
