New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans will welcome the Sacramento Kings to Smoothie King Center for an NBA game on Tuesday. The New Orleans Pelicans won 122-114 in their last game over the Clippers. When Clippers star Kawhi Leonard hit big shots in the closing minutes, the Pelicans answered with Brandon Ingram, whose recent form has sent his team surging up the standings.

Ingram scored 36 points, bringing fans to their feet with an array of clutch, mid-range jump shots, and New Orleans beat Los Angeles 122-114 on Saturday night. “If you want to be the best, you’ve got to go against the best and you’ve got to beat them,” Ingram said. “That’s one of the things that was in my head tonight, just trying to get this win.”

Jonas Valanciunas scored 23 points — 15 in the third quarter — and grabbed 12 rebounds for New Orleans (40-38), which won for the seventh time in eight games and pulled within a half-game of the Clippers (41-38) for sixth place in the Western Conference.

Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings on the other hand lost 134-142 against the Spurs in their last game. Fox scored 28 points and Domantas Sabonis added 26 for the Kings, who remain two games behind Memphis in the race for second place in the Western Conference. Fox hit a tying jumper with 36.3 seconds to play in regulation but Kevin Huerter missed a potential game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer following a turnover by the Spurs. The Kings fell to 23-17 at home, allowing a staggering 120.1 points per game.

“We have not been good defensively at home,” coach Mike Brown said. “The reality of it is we play sort of soft at home. I hate to say it, but that’s it’s what it is. It’s factual. We have trouble stopping people on our home floor.” The Kings were back home for the first time since ending the longest playoff drought in NBA history in a win at Portland on Wednesday. The team was greeted at the airport in the wee hours of Saturday morning by throngs of cheering fans. Brown said before the game that assistant Doug Christie gave a speech about not letting down against a short-handed team playing out the string on a lost season.
