Joe Ingles has been dealt from the Utah Jazz to the Portland Trail Blazers, despite the fact that he is still rehabbing from an ACL knee injury. The player who took only three seasons to become the NBA’s all-time three-point leader recently indicated that he wouldn’t mind being traded if it meant the team could win a title. But quitting his life’s team would sting considerably more than he had anticipated. Ingles was part of a bizarre three-way deal involving his team, the San Antonio Spurs, and the Portland Trail Blazers, according to ESPN. As part of the deal, the Jazz will receive talented third-year guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker from the Portland Trail Blazers.

In the transaction, the Jazz will also get reserve forward Juancho Hernangomez from the San Antonio Spurs. Portland will also send guard Tomas Satoransky to San Antonio, as one of four players acquired from the New Orleans Pelicans in the CJ McCollum trade, while big Elijah Hughes will join the team from Utah. The Jazz will also send a 2022 second-round selection to the Blazers and a 2027 second-round pick to the Spurs via the Memphis Grizzlies. It’s an odd mix, yet it made sense to all parties involved in the end.

What chance does Alexander-Walker have against the Jazz?

The 2019 NBA Draft’s 17th overall pick is presently averaging 12.8 points and 2.8 assists per game. He’ll most likely be a part of the Utah Jazz’s rotation. Despite the team’s lack of scoring and playmaking, there’s a strong chance he may make a significant impact to the team’s scoring and playmaking. The Utah Jazz have a vacancy in their lineup as a result of Ingles’ recent ACL injury. According to ESPN, this move will save Utah $11 million in luxury tax. The only drawback to this plan is that Ingles will not be able to end his Jazz career as one of the team’s biggest success stories.
