The Clippers faced the Rockets today in the last game of a two-game miniseries in Houston, with a clear aim in mind: to complete the season sweep. And they did it, winning 113-110. Even better, the Clippers’ winning streak now stands at four games as they prepare for another pivotal game against the Lakers on Thursday.

The Los Angeles Clippers pulled away in the third quarter and cruised to a 113-100 win against the Houston Rockets, paced by Ivica Zubac’s 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Throughout the first half, the game was essentially dead even. Neither side led by more than seven points, they both shot badly, and the game was usually disorganized. Christian Wood led the Rockets, who led by one point at halftime, with 12 points on 5/8 shooting. Ivica Zubac led the Clippers once again, continuing where he left off on Sunday with 12 points (4/6 FG), six rebounds, and a block in the first half. Marcus Morris, Sr., and Terance Mann each contributed nine points.

The Clippers blasted the game open in the third quarter, scoring 40 points. Morris led the way with nine points in the first quarter. But everyone chipped in a bit more than what was once an 18-3 run. Hartenstein, Coffey, and Covington went on to win the game in the fourth quarter. They were joined by Rodney Hood and Semi Ojeleye, who each received four minutes after being DNP-CDs (did not play-coach’s decision) on Sunday.

Clippers vs Rockets things to remember

  • Zubac was on fire

Zubac recorded 22 points (8/12 FG), 12 rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal in only 24 minutes. He didn’t quite meet Coach Lue’s 20-point-15-rebound challenge, but he was on track through three quarters. Hopefully, this kinda performance will give Zubac some confidence heading into Thursday’s game against the Lakers, with whom he was struggling a lot last week.

  • Brandon Boston behind the scene

Brandon Boston, Jr. got some early minutes tonight, which is unusual for him. He finished with 11 points (4/8 from the field, including a great step-back three), four rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Coach Lue commended Boston after the game for executing things correctly “behind the scenes.”
