The Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel has been under the radar since the game against the Nuggets where the Lakers were beaten by Denver with a 37 point margin. The LA Lakers are sitting seventh in the western conference with 22 wins and 22 losses and the heat is on coach Vogel for the team’s performance. Vogel’s tenure with the Lakers was in jeopardy and his tenure probably could have ended if not for the close win against Utah Jazz.
The win over Utah has delayed the call from the team management on coach Frank Vogel. It is reported that the team will evaluate him on a game to game basis also tracking whether he still has a command on his players and the roster.
Vogel is not new to the LA Lakers as he led the Lakers to championship glory in 2020 and his contract as coach for the Lakers runs through 2022-2023.
But this season has been a difficult one for the coaching staff as the pressure has been mounting on them at the midway point of the season.
That Monday’s win over Utah might have given the coach staff a sigh of relief but they are still under pressure as a lot is expected from them as sources say it was made clear to them by the current director of basketball affairs and former Lakers member Kurt Rambis.
The real struggle for the Lakers coach has been that they had to overcome multiple setbacks due to Covid-19 and injuries to their key rotation players.
The biggest setback has been the injury of Anthony Davis who is suffering from a MCL Sprain and hasn’t played a game since getting injured on Dec 17.
The game to game evaluation of Vogel has added a ton lot of pressure on him as he has to come up with different tactics for different teams in the upcoming matches and what matters most is the execution of the plan on the court.
The team has initially signed Vogel for a one year extension which shows that the team is not that committed towards Vogel.
Vogel has also highlighted the work ethics of the Lakers coaching staff and that they are tirelessly working towards the improvement of team’s performance game by game and are hoping that they come out on top every game that they play from here on.
The LA Lakers next face off against a strong Indiana Pacers at Crypto.com arena on Wednesday.
