Kevin Durant’s trade request has been one of the biggest stories in the NBA this offseason. However, the saga has finally come to an end as the Brooklyn Nets confirmed that they have come to an agreement with the two-time champion. Clouds of uncertainty loomed over the team since he requested a trade. But the fans and management can now be happy that they will have KD back on the roster next season.

Many believed that after he reiterated his trade request, Kevin Durant would be on his way out. But the mercurial star once again got the better of his critics. General Manager Sean Marks sent out an official statement to confirm that KD would remain as part of the Nets. It read: “Steve Nash and I, together with Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai, met with Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman in Los Angeles yesterday. We have agreed to move toward without partnership. We are focusing on basketball, with one collective goal in mind: build a lasting franchise to bring a championship to Brooklyn.”

With Kevin Durant back, the Brooklyn Nets can now breathe a huge sigh of relief. This means that they will have a Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons next season. If the trio remains healthy, Brooklyn would be the team to beat in the East.

Can Kevin Durant lead the Brooklyn Nets to a championship next season ?

Kevin Durant has been stellar in his stint with the Brooklyn Nets. In 90 games, he has averaged 28.7 PPG, 7.3 RPG and 6.1 APG. Despite having put up some memorable performances, the former MVP has not been able to deliver silverware in Brooklyn. However, heading into the 2022-23 season, he could very well change that as the Nets team is stacked from top to bottom.

Led by Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons, the Nets have one of the best Big 3’s in the league. With Simmons returning from injury, Durant and Irving can now focus solely on getting buckets for the team. The Australian is also an elite passer and can make things extremely easy for KD and Kyrie, who are both match winners on any given day.

Alongside the Big 3, Brooklyn also have some great players as their support cast. Players like Seth Curry, Patty Mills and Cam Thomas, who were all big for the franchise last season. They will be hoping to add value to the team and help increase their chances of winning. The team also added some more firepower in free agency. Royce O’Neal and TJ Warren, have both shown their potential in the league. With them coming off the bench, the team can expect to fire even in the minutes their stars are rested.

Certainly, a lot of attention is going to be on Kevin Durant and the other two stars. However, if the Nets are to succeed, even the other players will have to deliver.
