The NBA game between the Minnesota Timberwolves vs OKC Thunder will take place at the Target Center (Minneapolis) on Wednesday, October 19 at 8:00 PM ET (October 20 at 5:30 AM IST).
At the Target Center on Wednesday, Oklahoma City and Minnesota will play their first NBA game at 8:00 p.m. EST. The Thunder improved by two victories over the previous season, although they still had the second-worst record (24-58) in the Western Conference. The seventh-seeded Timberwolves (46-36) of the West were defeated by Memphis in the opening round of the playoffs. Minnesota nearly swept the season series between the rival Northwest Division teams last year, falling two points short ATS.
Oklahoma City had a terrible 2021–22 season, finishing with the fourth worst record in the NBA, winning only four of their final 20 games, with the final three being routs by scores of 19 or more. They had a third-worst average point differential of -8.1 and a league-low 103.7 points scored per game. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a point guard, had a team-best average of 24.5 points per game, but in the four games versus Minnesota last season, he only averaged 18 points per game, scoring a season-low eight in their last encounter in March.
Minnesota experienced a dramatic turnaround, winning 23 more games than the previous season, and making the playoffs for the first time since the 2017–18 season. They finished the regular season with a 15-6 record and an overall ATS record of 42-38-2. The 116 points per game this team averaged previous season, paced by Karl Anthony Towns’ 24.6 per game and 9.8 rebounds, was an NBA record. Anthony Edwards, a former first-round pick, improved in his sophomore season by averaging 21.3 points per game.
