The Dallas Mavericks triumphed 122-114 against the Sacramento Kings to win game one of a two-game mini-series on the road. With the victory, the Mavs’ record moves up to 31-26, while the Kings’ drops to 31-24. The Mavs’ offense had an almost legendary first quarter, scoring 45 points, the second-highest total in team history.

The offense kept things moving quickly and frequently used “Zoom” action and some “Horns” formations. In little over five minutes of play, Christian Wood, who had been on the bench, gave the team a tremendous boost by scoring 13 points and dishing out two assists.

The Mavs scored 29 more points in the second quarter to achieve the highest-scoring half of the season (74 points). Dallas concluded with 23 assists while shooting 28-53 (52.8 percent) overall and 12-25 (48.0 percent) from three-point range, demonstrating the effectiveness of their strategy. At the half, the Mavs were ahead 74-56.

Kyrie Irving scored 25 points for Mavs

When they had the chance after the break, the Kings were more proactive in sending double teams and pre-catch rejections against Irving. Green intervened to relieve pressure on the Mavs’ struggling offense. The lineups lacking Irving continued to struggle, and at the start of the fourth quarter, the score was 101-87.

With 7:42 left in regulation, the Kings’ progress in reducing the Mavs’ advantage led to a 10-point deficit. With a contact finish a little while later, De’Aaron Fox reduced the Kings’ deficit to a single digit. Dallas was able to survive the rest of the game because of their excellent early-game play.

Irving led the Mavs in scoring with a total of 25 points and 10 assists. With 17 points, four rebounds, and seven assists, Josh Green also contributed. Dallas had seven different players score in double figures overall.

Twitter reacts as Irving goes 3-0 wearing the Mavs uniform

Without a doubt, Kyrie Irving, the second-biggest name in this year’s trade deadline, was acquired by the Dallas Mavericks. His performance against the Los Angeles Clippers in a crucial victory a few days ago was spectacular in his first game wearing a Mavs outfit, and tonight against the Kings, he scored 25 points to lead his team to a victory, 122-114.
