The Indiana Pacers will head into their fourth NBA Summer League game, wherein they will be up against the Washington Wizards. The Pacers are coming into the encounter on the back of a thumping win over the Detroit Pistons.
Bennedict Mathurin was the star of the night for them. The sixth overall pick of the draft scored 20 points, while also contributing with 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Terry Taylor and Isaiah Jackson chipped in with 14 points each. Aaron Nesmith also added 12 points and 7 rebounds. All of their efforts proved to be vital for the Pacers as they went on to win with a 101-87 scoreline. The Pacers had control of the game right from the tip-off. They did face some resurgence from the Pistons in the fourth quarter, but it had gotten a little too late for a turnaround.
Meanwhile, the Wizards suffered a disappointing 106-88 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. Vernon Carey Jr. racked up 11 points and bagged 4 rebounds on the night. The likes of Tyler Hall and Tahjere McCall also stepped up by scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. However, none of that proved to be enough as the Pelicans walked out with a dominant win. The Pels offense was on fire throughout the game and the Wizards had no reply to it. Heading into the game against the Pacers, they will be looking to get better there and pull out a win on Friday.
The Indiana Pacers have pulled out the likes of Bennedict Mathurin, Isaiah Jackson and Terry Taylor from the Summer League for precautionary reasons. No other casualty has been reported so far.
