“I would never count LeBron James out” - JJ Redick on LeBron’s chances of winning more NBA championships

While critics have been quick to point out the Lakers’ shortcomings this season, LeBron himself had averaged good numbers. In 56 games, James averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists.

There has long been a debate about who is the greatest athlete between Tom Brady and LeBron James. Tom Brady announced that he was retiring in February 2022 only to come back a few months later. LeBron on the other hand has been going strong and is showing no signs of stopping even after 19 seasons in the NBA. Both players have been immensely successful in whatever they did. Former basketball player John Salley recently compared LeBron and Brady and said that James winning 4 championships is not enough and that he will win at least two more.

The debate raged on at ESPN’s This Just In when Max Kellerman asked JJ Redick about Salley’s statement and Redick had no bad things to say about James. He said, “I would never count LeBron out. He has shown a level of sustained individual greatness that I don’t know that we’ve never seen in this sport before. The guy literally hasn’t had a bad season in his career and he is doing that now at age 37. I don’t get the Tom Brady comparison because you are talking about two very different sports and one of the things about basketball and LeBron being the best player with their current roster, it’s very hard to build a championship roster right now with that team.”

LeBron James exceeded the hype he was given

While critics have been quick to point out the Lakers’ shortcomings this season, LeBron himself had averaged good numbers. In 56 games, James averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists. Former NBA player Amar’e Stoudemire went on to say that LeBron has exceeded the hype that he was given when he was in high school and that he will definitely win another two rings before he retires.

He said, “Watching LeBon James even in high school. I was a senior in high school, LeBron James was a junior and at that time, he was already the top player in the country. And all the hype that he received as a high school player didn’t just see him take the leap into the NBA and live up to all of the hype and more and to still be playing at a high level right now at 37 years old, 18, 19 seasons in the league, it’s incredible. I cannot underestimate LeBron James. I truly feel like if LeBron James stays healthy and the Lakers build a solid roster for him, he could win one or two more.
