A Jimmy Butler inspired Miami Heat beat the Boston Celtics 111-103 to force Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals. Butler scored a career playoff high 47 points in what was one of the best individual performances in NBA playoff history. He played 46 minutes and recorded 8 assists and 9 rebounds capping off a memorable performance. After the game, a calm and cool Butler revealed that a call from former Heat player Dwyane Wade fired him up and gave him the inspiration to play well.

Butler said, “Honestly, I got a phone call and a text message from D-Wade earlier today and he was telling me that I could do this. Knee is all banged up but nobody cares. Just go out there and continue to build your legacy and that meant the world to me. So I appreciate you D-Wade.”

Critics did not bother Jimmy

A lot of pundits had practically written off the Heat and gave them no chance against the Celtics for Game 6 but thanks to Jimmy’s heroics, Miami have now forced Game 7 which will be held in their own backyard. Regarding the offsetting comments by the analysts, Butler said he did not pay much attention. “I actually didn’t hear the noise,” Jimmy said. “I don’t pay attention to what anybody says except for this organisation and these coaches and my teammates. We knew we were going to come here and get one and now we are going to win this next one too.

Butler then heaped praise on his teammates and coaches for having so much belief in him. He said, “My team. They got so much belief in me. The coaches got so much belief in me. They give me that confidence to go out there and play basketball the right way and just hoop and I am very grateful for my guys.” Kyle Lowry had a good game after having a stinker in the last one where he scored zero points. Here, he scored 18 points and had 10 assists with 4 rebounds while Max Strus and PJ Tucker had 13 and 11 points respectively.

As we head into the final game of the Eastern Conference Finals, Butler called for focus from his teammates and told them to show the whole world what they are capable of and also to take advantage of the fact that it’s being held in Miami. “Find a way to win. I let my team down a couple of games. I wasn’t going to do it again. We know what we are capable of. We get to take it back to the crib and win game 7. One more win. One more win. And after that, we get four. As of right now, we got one more to get on Sunday.”
