The Golden State Warriors made the perfect start to their NBA title defense as they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 123-109 on Tuesday night. Stephen Curry unsurprisingly was the top scorer for the Warriors with 33 points. He also dished out 7 assists and had 6 rebounds. Andrew Wiggins also shone for the Warriors with 20 points while Klay Thompson dropped 18.

Curry was asked after the game how his team are faring on the offensive and defensive side of things and he said that there is a lot of room for improvement. Speaking to TNT, Curry said, “Both have a long way to go. We are playing 11 guys right now and we are trying to get everybody up to speed, lot of different rotations and lineups out there.

“You just try to build chemistry and that’s the goal, to try to win games in the process of learning. Lots of young guys getting an opportunity early in the season because we are going to need them throughout the year and hopefully in the playoffs,” said Curry, who passed Chris Mullins for most seasons played in franchise history with 14.

Klay Thompson gets emotional as Golden State Warriors get rings

It was a special night for the Golden State Warriors as they received their championship rings and raised the championship banner. Klay Thompson took the mic and proceeded to say some heartfelt words. He said, “Wow. Dub Nation, I am going to keep it short and sweet. We love you with all of our hearts. Me and (James) Wiseman were in here a summer ago, looking at this empty arena like ‘Man, we can use a banner,’ and that vision came to fruition.

“And now we are here. Just want to send a special shout out to my mother. I know she is watching, she wouldn’t be here tonight. I love you so much mom. Thanks for everything. We love you,” said Klay.

LeBron, AD and Russ show signs of life

Despite the loss, Los Angeles Lakers fans will be pleased with what they saw from their big three. LeBron James had a special night with 31 points and 14 rebounds and it is surprising to think that this is his 20th season in the league. Anthony Davis dropped 27 points and played for 36 minutes in what was an encouraging show given all his injury struggles.

Russell Westbrook seems to have gotten back to his best as he scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds. The highlight of his game was a monster dunk in the fourth quarter. Russ seems to be playing with a burden off his back and Darvin Ham’s methods seem to be paying off.

The Warriors welcome the Denver Nuggets to the Chase Center for their next match while the Lakers will take on the Clippers in what will be a very interesting match.
