The Detroit Pistons will welcome the San Antonio Spurs to Little Caesars Arena for an NBA game on Friday. The Pistons lost 113-85 in their last game over the Cavaliers. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 15 and rookie Jalen Duren 14 for Detroit. The Pistons have dropped nine of 11 and have the worst record (14-42) in the Eastern Conference.
Cavaliers swingman Caris LeVert, who has been mentioned in rumors leading into Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, struggled for much of the game. He finished with 15 points — 10 in the fourth — on 5-of-16 shooting. “He knows we need him,” Bickerstaff said, “and he knows how to get to his spots and what he’s capable of, so it’s not one of those things where he’s having a bad night and you just sit him down.”
The Cavs are unlikely to make a significant move, but LeVert’s expiring $18 million contract does make him attractive for a team looking to clear salary space in the offseason. Cleveland hasn’t lost since a tough three-point defeat at home against Miami.
The San Antonio Spurs on the other hand lost 112-98 against the Raptors in their last game. Keldon Johnson scored 22 points, Josh Richardson had 14 and Doug McDermott 13 for San Antonio, which has not won since Jan. 17 against Brooklyn. Former Raptor Jakob Poeltl scored 12 points and Keita Bates-Diop had 10.It’s the second time this season the Spurs have lost at least 10 straight. They had a season-worst 11-game slump between Nov. 14 and Dec. 4.
San Antonio made 16 turnovers, leading to 22 points for Toronto. The Spurs made 18 turnovers in Monday’s loss at Chicago. “When you turn it over against Toronto, it’s like a bucket at the other end with their speed and their athleticism,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “They got too many points off our turnovers, but that’s how they play. That’s one of their strengths.”
