The Detroit Pistons vs Cleveland Cavaliers game will be played on Thursday, July 14 at 5:30 PM ET [Friday, July 15 at 3:00 AM IST]
The Detroit Pistons will head into their fourth NBA Summer League game when they face the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Thomas & Mack Center on July 14. Both teams are going into this encounter on the back of disappointing defeats in their previous games.
The Pistons were up against the Indiana Pacers, who looked stellar from the word go. Jaden Ivey, Isaiah Stewart and Isaiah Livers were all rested for this game. The Pacers took advantage of that and walked their way out with a comfortable 101-87 win on the night. Buddy Boeheim racked up a game-high 18 points for the Pistons. Stanley Umude came off the bench scoring 14 points. Charlie Moore and Jalen Duren also contributed with 13 and 12 points respectively. Despite their best effort, the Pacers were too strong on the night. Rookie Bennedict Mathurin led the scorers with 20 points for them. His effort proved to be the leading factor behind the Eastern Conference side’s convincing win over the Pistons.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers are coming off an emphatic loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Their only positive on the night was Ochai Agbaji, who scored 24 points on 53.8% shooting. The only other Cavs players to cross double figures in points were C Young and A Hardy. Evan Mobley also showed up in this game. The fourth overall pick from the 2021 draft, scored 8 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. However, none of this was enough to stop the Hornets team. They were just brilliant on both ends of the floor and in the end went on to grab a 91-80 win. With this loss, the Cavs may have lost their chance to move into the next round. However, they will be playing the game against the Pistons for pride and walk away with the tournament in style.
Neither team has submitted their injury report for this game. However, if all works well till the time of the tip-off, the coaches will start their best five for this game.
