In the Lone Star State, two teams from the Southwest Division compete on the hardwood in an effort to win. The Memphis Grizzlies are traveling as they head to Dallas to take on the Mavericks on Saturday. Memphis played the Rockets in the Toyota Center on Friday night while traveling. They defeated the Knicks on Wednesday night, 115-112, winning their season opening but not covering the spread despite being a five-point favorite.
Dallas lost to Phoenix 107-105 on Wednesday night in their season opening after letting a sizable lead slip away on the road, despite covering as a four-point underdog. The Mavericks have a 72-32 edge in the all-time regular season matches between the two clubs and won three of the four encounters last year. That includes a win at home on January 23, 2022, by a score of 104-91.
Memphis is playing the second game in a back-to-back road series against division opponents as they were in action on the road Friday night against Houston. With a perfect record going into Friday, the Grizzlies and Pelicans were tied for first place in the Southwest Division.
After overcoming a 3-1 series deficit the previous year, Dallas went off to an explosive start this time around and appeared ready to drive Phoenix out of their own arena. As they play their home opener against a rival from their division, the Mavericks want to recover and even their record for the year.
