The Cleveland Cavaliers will welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for an NBA preseason game on Monday. The Cavaliers last preseason game was against the 76ers and they lost 113-112 in what was a close game. The game saw the Cavs start new signing Donovan Mitchell and he went on to have a good game as he dropped 16 points and dished out five assists in 19 minutes. Darius Garland was the other starter to score in double digits as he scored 12 points.
Cleveland head coach J.B. Bickerstaff said about Garland and Mitchell after the game and said, “I thought it was pretty seamless the way they played together, the way that the ball moved and everybody got involved. As long as we play in the same style we want to play where it isn’t just based on one guy, but it’s based on the team, I think it’s gonna work out well for us.”
On the other hand, the Philadelphia 76ers have had a good preseason so far winning their two games so far. In their last game against the Cavs, Tyrese Maxey top scored for Philly with 21 points and seems to have made the point guard position his own. Joel Embiid and James Harden started the game as well and scored 12 and 9 points respectively.
Doc Rivers spoke of the improvements in Maxey’s game and said that he noticed a few things. Rivers said, “I think it’s coming. I thought late in the year, he got fouled a lot at the basket. It just wasn’t called a lot. I think that will be the next step, not for him, but for people to see that he’s getting fouled if you know what I’m saying.”
