The Brooklyn Nets will welcome the Miami Heat to the Barclays Center for an NBA preseason game on Thursday. The Nets started off their preseason with a 127-108 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in their last game. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving got a decent amount of minutes on the court and recorded good numbers. KD scored 13 points and had four rebounds and assists while Kyrie dropped nine points and had four rebounds and assists as well.
The big talking point however was the debut of Ben Simmons. The Australian finally made his bow as a Brooklyn Nets player and scored six points, had four rebounds and dished out five assists in the 19 minutes he was on the court. After the game, Simmons said, “I thought I was going to be nervous, but I wasn’t nervous; I was excited. The only way you learn is by making mistakes. I had a few out there tonight.”
On the other hand, just like the Brooklyn Nets, the Miami Heat also started their preseason by losing their first game 121-111 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. First teamers Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo were the pick of the bunch as they scored 22 points each with Herro recording six rebounds and four assists. Caleb Martin was the other player to score in double digits as he had 12 points, three rebounds and two assists.
It will be interesting to see if Jimmy Butler will take the court for this game. He was rested in the last game against the Timberwolves and has since been doing great in practice. The same applies to Victor Oladipo. The shooting guard will be chomping at the bit to play and to stake a claim for a starting berth once the regular season starts.
