The NBA game between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers will take place at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on Tuesday, October 18 at 7:30 PM ET.
The Boston Celtics will welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to the TD Garden for the NBA season opener on Tuesday. Last season’s runners up, Celtics had a decent preseason as they played four games, winning two and losing two. In their last preseason game, Boston lost 137-134 to the Toronto Raptors but their team is shaping up nicely.
The preseason saw Boston give a lot of minutes to many of their fringe players but they also included some of the big names. The emergence of Derrick White as a first team player will be the biggest plus for Boston. In their last game against the Raptors, White scored 23 points and that will bode well for the season opener. Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart are guaranteed starters and with Al Horford guarding the paint, expect the Celtics to provide a stern test to the 76ers.
The Philadelphia 76ers on the other hand had a 100 percent win record in preseason as they won all their four games. The most important thing for Philly was the fitness of James Harden and Joel Embiid. Both players played ample minutes in preseason and are in tune with each other when it comes to chemistry.
The other plus for the 76ers is the emergence of Tyrese Maxey. Although Maxey was great last season, this preseason he proved that he was not a flash in the pan and that he is here to stay. It was evident in their first preseason game against the Nets where Maxey led the 76ers to a 127-108 win over the Brooklyn Nets. He scored 20 points in the absence of Harden and Embiid and proved his worth to the team.
