The Boston Celtics will head to the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas for an NBA Summer League game against the Miami Heat on Saturday, July 9. This encounter will be the first Summer League game for both the Eastern Conference sides.
Boston come into the game in hopes of getting off to a winning start. Their roster is headlined by Sam Hauser. He played with the Celtics on a two-way contract last season, but mid-way through the year, the seventeen-time champs offered him a standard NBA contract. His aim will certainly be to have a stellar Summer League campaign and break into the rotation next season. The likes of AJ Reeves and Matt Ryan are also the players to keep an eye on. General Manager Brad Stevens already bolstered the side by bringing in Malcolm Brogdon in free agency. However, he will be in search of a few more talents and there is no better place to do that than the Summer League.
The Celtics’ opponents are a Miami Heat team that is known for its player development. They have onboarded a lot of talent from the Summer League and G-League. Certainly, Pat Riley will be heading to Las Vegas to find similar types of players. The main player to look out for in this Heat team is their draft pick Nikola Jovic. After a few disappointing performances in the California Classic Leg, he finally showed up scoring 25 points in the final game of the tournament. He will be looking to have a big impact in the Summer League and thereby set the tone for a great rookie season with the Heat.
