Due to a right-hand laceration, Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics was unable to play against the Toronto Raptors on Friday. He clarified the nature of the injury before tip-off. Brown disclosed that he sliced his hand on glass at his house, notably in the space between his two fingers, requiring five stitches. The two-time All-Star arrived at TD Garden wearing bandages on his injured hand.

“I was watering my plant and ended up knocking over a glass vase that was next to it,” Brown said. “Picked it up, set it on the ground, realized you probably shouldn’t set glass on the ground. Reached down and picked it back up, and it got me.”

Brown will miss the last two regular-season games due to the injury, but he anticipates being prepared for the postseason. Fortunately, with the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference already secured, relaxation is the first concern for the Celtics. One of several important players missing Friday’s game is Brown. On Easter Sunday, the C’s will play the Atlanta Hawks at home to finish the regular season. The start of their postseason journey is next weekend.

Even without Jaylen Brown Boston Celtics crushes the Toronto Raptors

On Friday night, the Boston Celtics easily defeated the Toronto Raptors 121-102 thanks to a career-high 26 points from Sam Hauser. The Celtics completed a 4-0 sweep of the season series as Jayson Tatum ended with 21 points after sitting out the entire second half. Boston hasn’t swept Toronto since the 2009–10 season.

The squad seemed strong even without Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart. The Celtics, who defeated Toronto on Wednesday to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, were missing All-Star Jaylen Brown because he sliced a finger on his shooting hand on Thursday. He will also be out from Sunday’s regular-season showdown with Atlanta, but he anticipates returning in time for the postseason to begin.
