Elon Musk of Twitter and Mark Zuckerberg of Meta appear to have agreed to a social media brawl, but many seem to think it’s all in good fun. However, one of the biggest names in combat sports insists that it is entirely serious.

UFC President Dana White told TMZ Sports on Wednesday night that he spoke with both billionaires and that “both guys are absolutely dead serious about this.”

When asked why he felt this way, White replied, “They both said, ‘Yeah, we’ll do it.’ ‘They both want to do it.”

Elon Musk is serious

White said that Zuckerberg contacted him first, asking if Musk was serious, and that Musk responded by saying he was. If this fight does place, White believes the amount of money raised would be unparalleled.

“This would be the biggest fight ever in the history of the world. Bigger than anything that’s ever been done. It would break all pay-per-view records. These guys would raise hundreds of millions of dollars for charity. You don’t have to be a fighting fan to be interested in this fight. Everybody would want to see it.”

“The biggest fight of all time was Floyd Mayweather and Conor [McGregor], I just think it triples that. I think it triples what that did. There’s no limit on what that thing can make. … Everybody would watch it, everybody would want to see it.”

Mark Zuckerberg trains in Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu

Zuckerberg does Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ), while Musk has done martial arts, BJJ, and has been in “plenty of fights growing up in South Africa,” according to White. The prospective competition appears to have begun when numerous Twitter users, including Musk, remarked on a piece of news about Meta possibly developing a Twitter-like program that would be a direct rival to the site.

When a commenter pointed out that the Meta CEO practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu and advised Musk to “be careful,” the Twitter CEO replied he’d be happy to walk into a cage with him. On Instagram, Zuckerberg responded, “Send Me Location,” an homage to UFC fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov.
