Report: Real Madrid interested in Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are interested in Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar as they look to strengthen their defense in the summer transfer window. Skriniar joined Inter in 2017 from Serie A side Sampdoria and has gradually grown into one of the best defenders in Italian top-flight football. The Los Blancos are in need of a proven talent in the central defense to strengthen their defensive option. Since the departure of Sergio Ramos and Rafael Varane, Carlo Ancelotti’s side haven’t been at their best, though Eder Militao and David Alaba are doing a fine job.

Skriniar played a pivotal role in Nerazzuri’s Serie A title triumph last season and has again been a key player this term as they look to defend their crown. The Slovakian has made 197 appearances for Inter, 30 of which have come in the 2021-22 season.

However, his future at San Siro is uncertain as his contract expires in 2023. It means the 27-year-old will enter the final year of his deal with Inter this summer, making him a target for several clubs across Europe, including Los Blancos.

Ancelotti has only four senior central defenders at his disposal in Militao, Alaba, Nacho and Jesus Vallejo. Nacho is a reliable backup option who can come in and do the job when required, both as a centre-back and full-back. Meanwhile Vallejo has failed to impress Ancelotti and could be on his way out in the summer.

It would leave Real short on quality in the central defense, which could affect their chances of title triumphs. Los Blancos are a club with high expectations who want to win every possible tournament, therefore they need a strong squad to compete at a high level. 

Skriniar is a proven defender, who has good physical prowess and is very strong in the air. The likes of Militao and Alaba and technically very sound defenders who can do a clean job but Skriniar can give an extra dimension to Real Defense with his hard tackling and dominating figure, similar to what Ramos gave them.
