When one would hear the scream of Rahul Chaudhari on TV during a Pro Kabaddi League match, it would be a sure sign that he has scored for his side. Perhaps, the consistency with which Chaudhari would deliver results probably made him the first superstar of the Pro Kabaddi League ever since its inception in 2014. The sheer volume of raids by Chaudhari has rightly earned him the nickname of the ‘Raid Machine’. In addition to his looks, he is also called the ‘Showman’. His performances in the Pro Kabaddi League have resulted in bigger results in international competitions. Chaudhari was a member of the Indian National Kabaddi team that won a gold medal in the 2016 South Asian Games

In three consecutive seasons, the first two with Telugu Titans and then the Tamil Thalaivas, Chaudhari has managed to score over 100 raid points on a consistent basis, putting him on par with a legends like Pardeep Narwal and Ajay Thakur.

The rise of Rahul Chaudhari

Born in 1993 in Bijnor, Chaudhari was attracted to Kabaddi due to his brother’s exploits at the local level. During a Sports Authority of India training in Gandhinagar, Chaudhari honed his skills in Kabaddi which set the base for him in bigger tournaments.

However, what makes Chaudhari special is his special skillset. His ability to raid from both sides of the mat, swift footwork and uncanny ability to spot and land an unexpected Running Hand Touch on an unsuspecting defender make him a complete entertainer. There is never a dull moment when Chaudhari is on the mat. Once he finds his rhythm and reaches top gear, there are few raiders who can match the raiding potential.

However, in season four of the Pro Kabaddi League, Chaudhari firmly established himself as one of the best when he became the first player in history to score 150 points in a single campaign twice, leading Telugu Titans to their second semi-final appearance. For his outstanding season, Chaudhari was named the league MVP for the first time in his career in that season.

The Pro Kabaddi League has been boosted by the brilliance of Chaudhari in all seasons and that is why his nickname of the ‘Showman’ is indeed a tribute to his skills and personality.
