Pro Kabaddi League: We are determined, says coach Jasveer Singh ahead of Puneri Paltan clash

The Yoddhas, placed at 6th in the league standings, will be up against 10th placed Puneri Paltan.

UP Yoddha – the GMR group owned franchise of the Pro Kabaddi League – are determined to get back to winning ways after their 5 game unbeaten run was broken by a whisker against Haryana Steelers. The Yoddhas, placed at 6th in the league standings, will be up against 10th placed Puneri Paltan. So far, Pardeep Narwal, Surender Gill & Shrikant Jadav have been shining in the attack with able support from Captain Nitesh Kumar & youngster Sumit. The match will be broadcasted LIVE on Star Sports Network and Hotstar 7:30 PM (IST) onwards.

Last time out, the two sides met in the highest scoring match of the season when the Yoddhas won 50-40. Surender Gill scored a whopping 21 points to achieve his career best raid points. Statistically in PKL, the two sides have met six times with Yoddhas winning four times and losing twice. The Yoddhas will go into the match after a narrow 36-35 defeat against Haryana Steelers. Puneri Paltan will be going into this match with a lot of confidence after a 37-35 win against Bengaluru Bulls.

‘Puneri Paltan is a strong side’

Ahead of the match, Jasveer Singh, Head Coach, UP Yoddha said, “Our unbeaten streak came to an end but we are determined to get back in form. The boys are training hard and looking to take their best to the mat in the upcoming fixture. Puneri Paltan is a strong side and we need to be at our best to come out victorious.”

On Sunday, The Haryana Steelers registered a thrilling 36-35 victory over UP Yoddha in Pro Kabaddi League Season 8 in Bengaluru. The two sides played out an even contest for the most part of the match before Vinay scored a bonus point in the last few seconds of the game to ensure that the Haryana side walked off the mat as the winners of the match. 

In a neck-to-neck contest, the Haryana side effected another fantastic tackle to take the lead at 15-14 just before the end of the first half. The Haryana captain pulled off a brilliant raid in the opening minutes of the second half and helped his team extend their lead. Then, in the 39th minute, the UP side effected a Super Raid and levelled the scores at 35-35. Thereafter, Vinay picked up a bonus point in the dying seconds of the match and helped his side close out a crucial victory.
