Pro Kabaddi League: UP Yoddha will start 2022 against U Mumba

UP Yoddha so far have one win, two losses and one draw from their first four games and will aim to secure their second win of the season.

UP Yoddha, the GMR Group Owned Pro Kabaddi League Franchise is all set to welcome the New Year on the mat facing U Mumba in their fifth game on January 1st. The Yoddha’s are currently placed 8th in the league table with 10 points to their kitty. So far Pardeep Narwal and Surender Gill have been the shining stars for the franchise representing the state of Uttar Pradesh. UP Yoddha so far have one win, two losses and one draw from their first four games and will aim to secure their second win of the season as they gear up to face 3rd placed U Mumba on Saturday. The Match will be broadcast LIVE on Star Sports Network & Disney Hotstar, 7:30 PM onwards.

After overcoming some lingering issues at the start of the season, the team has shown their caliber both in the offense and defense in their last match. However, they have a strong challenge ahead with U Mumba, who will be taking the mat riding on the back of a convincing 37-28 victory against Jaipur Pink Panthers.

While UP Yoddha who will be well-rested ahead of their clash would also be taking the mat with a lot of confidence thanks to a solid display of teamwork against Gujarat Giants that eventually ended in a draw. That game also saw the Yoddha’s star raider, Pardeep Narwal become the first player in the history of Pro Kabaddi League to reach 1200 points.

‘The boys are motivated’

Ahead of the match, Jasveer Singh, Head Coach, UP Yoddha said, “I am happy that we came together as a team as I expected in our last game and I am confident of a better display in our next game. We pressed well and dominated the second half and showed what we are capable of. The boys are motivated and are looking to carry the momentum on to the next match, hopefully gifting our fans an added reason to celebrate the first day of the new year.”

The two sides have faced each other five times out of which UP Yoddha got the upper hand twice, while losing thrice. The match is expected to be full of excitement as UP Yoddha will be looking to even the score with U Mumba.
