Haryana Steelers made their first appearance in Pro Kabaddi League in 2017. The debut turned out to be quite impressive as they qualified for the playoffs. They even managed to enter the playoffs in PKL 2019 but lost to U Mumba in the eliminator. In the previous edition, the team couldn’t put up a great performance and ended their campaign with a disappointing seventh finish.
In the auction for Season 9, the Haryana-based franchise targeted raiders to compensate for the release of Vikash Kandola from the squad. They bought Manjeet Dahiya who had collected 159 raid points for Tamil Thalaivas in the last season for Rs. 80 lakh. They also added the Iranian raider Mohammad Esmaeil to the squad for Rs. 10.5 Lakh. Steelers then bid for the Iranian defender Amir Hossain Bastami who they acquired for Rs. 65.10 Lakh. Although he hasn’t made a name for himself in the PKL, he is certainly making bold statements on the international level. The young defender had a phenomenal outing in 2019 as he was the man in charge of the Iran team that clinched the Junior World Kabaddi title.
