The Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023 final took place at the Dong-Eui Institute of Technology Seokdang Cultural Centre in Busan, Republic of Korea, on Friday. In the finals, India claimed their 8th title with a score of 42-32 against Iran to win the Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023. India has dominated the championship eight times in nine years, establishing their control in the sport with this outstanding victory. The Indian men’s kabaddi team, captained by Pawan Sehrawat, exhibited their skill as they staged a stunning comeback after falling behind Iran in the opening minutes of the match.
India changed the momentum of the game in their favor by combining good defensive tackles with effective raids from Pawan Sehrawat and Aslam Inamdar, securing their first all-out of the game in the 10th minute. Capitalizing on this momentum, the Indian team put on a fantastic all-around performance, giving Iran a few simple bonus points but forcing a second all-out on them in the 19th minute. India enjoyed a commanding 23-11 advantage as the first half came to a close.
India enjoyed a strong run earlier in the Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023, going unbeaten in the league stage. Before going on to the final, they defeated Hong Kong by a score of 64-20. India’s best success in the league stage came in a resounding 76-13 victory over Korea on the first day, while their closest victory was a slim 33-28 triumph over Iran on Thursday. On the other hand, the 2003 champion of the edition, Iran lost both their games to India in the tournament.
The Indian Kabaddi team will now be gearing up for the coming Asian Games 2023, which are scheduled to be staged in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8, 2023. For the Indian teams, the Asian Games will be a big challenge as they try to recapture their position. In the eagerly anticipated multi-sport competition, Iran, the defending champions from the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta in the men’s section, will also be a strong contender.
