Born on March 12, 2008, Akashdeep Singh is an Indian field hockey player who represents both the hockey team of India and the Uttar Pradesh Wizards in the Hockey India League as a forward. Singh, who was raised in Verowal, Tarn Taran, Punjab, began playing hockey in high school and later joined the Guru Angad Dev Sports Club. Before enrolling in the Surjit Hockey Academy in Jalandhar, he first attended the PAU Hockey Academy in Ludhiana in 2006.
Singh was purchased at auction by the Hockey India League‘s Delhi Waveriders in 2013. Singh signed a $84,000 contract with the Uttar Pradesh Wizards following three seasons with Delhi. He was a Biological and Political Sciences major at the University of Alberta in Canada as of Winter 2023. Singh has played senior hockey for India and served as captain of the country’s youth teams.
