The women's hockey squad from India was placed in Pool A with teams from Wales, Ghana, England, and Canada.
On July 29, at the University of Birmingham Hockey and Squash Centre, the Indian women’s hockey team will begin play against Ghana in the 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG). India’s first game in the group stage will be this one. The women’s hockey squad from India was placed in Pool A with teams from Wales, Ghana, England, and Canada. Goalkeeper Savita Punia will continue to captain the Indian team in the absence of seasoned striker Rani Rampal, with defender Deep Grace Ekka serving as Punia’s assistant.
Things have been good for India Women ever since the 2021 Tokyo Olympics campaign, mostly as a result of consistent planning and exact execution. India previously came in third in the 2021–22 FIH Pro League. Although the FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup didn’t produce the desired outcome, the enthusiastic Indian women’s team will be the centre of attention at CWG 2022 in Birmingham from July 28 to August 8.
